Farmville Adds St. Patrick’s Day Pot of Gold

Farmville developer Zynga kicked off its St. Patrick’s Day celebration in tonight’s update with a brand new Pot of Gold gift-collecting item. The Pot of Gold is similar to previous holiday promotions, including the Christmas Tree, and the Valentine box. The more gifts you receive from friends, the better your prize will be.

Farmville players have five St. Patrick’s Day items they can gift to their friends: Gold Bar, Gold Nugget, Gold Bear, Gold Coin, and Gold Chain. If you receive one of these gifts, it goes straight into your Pot of Gold. Players can then redeem these gold pieces for special rewards. So far rewards for redeeming 10, 20, and 30 gold pieces are available. Bigger prizes will be added soon. Like Valentine’s day, it looks like the top prize will only become available at around 150 gifts.

For players that don’t have many Farmville playing friends, Gold Chunks can be purchased from the Farmville marketplace for 5 FV$. Each gold chunk is worth five gold pieces.

Drumroll please… The prizes available so far are…

10 pieces of gold – Shamrock Sheep
20 pieces of gold – Flower Cart
30 pieces of gold – Leprechaun Gnome
