Playfish Launches Roman-Themed City Builder My Empire

Playfish has thrown their hat into the increasingly-popular city sim social game genre, but with a unique twist: their new game My Empire has players developing an ancient Roman city! Do you have what it takes to be Caesar?

Players grow their empire’s population by constructing homes. To continue achieving growth, players also have to ensure there are enough happiness-generated buildings, such as workshops, bath houses, farms, and blacksmiths. The more population a player’s empire has, the more tax money they can collect, allowing the city to be expanded further.

The social element of the game appears to revolve around the construction of great wonders. Early on, players are given the opportunity to construct Stonehenge. But to complete construction, players will need certain materials that can only be received as a gift from friends.

We are happy to report that the game appears to be launching in a fairly polished and complete state, unlike several recent social game releases. Music and sound effects are in place, the entire experience runs smoothly, there is a comprehensive tutorial, and we have yet to encounter any bugs.

We will have much more on My Empire in the near future.
