SPP Ranch Releases Fashion Themed Expansion

SPP Ranch developer Slide released a collection of fashion and glamour themed items, this week. The item set most likely won’t do much for players keeping their ranch realistic, but there is no denying that some of the new high-fashion horses and cows are pretty darn amusing.

New additions include: SPP Avenue department store, pile of shopping bags, designer shoe rack, floral print telephone booth, rack of dresses, bunny handbag, rooftop cafe, SPP World Fashion Show Stage, and several more. A bigger percentage of these new items are for sale for Slide Gold (the game’s premium currency) than is typical, but there are still lots of items available for in-game cash for fashion lovers to purchase.

Restaurant City Releases Wedding Items

Restaurant City developer Playfish’s weekly decoration set is definitely one of the more unique and original we’ve seen lately – a collection of wedding themed gifts have been added to RC’s indoor and outdoor decoration stores. Players should now have everything they need to host virtual wedding receptions inside their own Facebook restaurant.

New items include: Wedding chair and table, floral garland wall hanging, Wedding Harpist, Wedding Gazebo, Podium, Wedding Flowers and Wedding Trellis. The two functional additions are an Ice Swan Sculpture that causes rose pedals to appear beneath customers’ feet, and a 130,000 coin Bubbly Drink Tower, only available to players level 50 and higher.

The outdoor decoration store sometimes seems a little neglected in Restaruant City’s weekly updates, but this week it got a lot of love. The Bride and Groom themselves can be purchased, as well as a Wedding Roof, a Floral Archway, a Wedding Car, Wedding Chairs, and several more.

Fishville Adds Crystal Caverns Gifts

Fishville developer Zynga has released a handful of new Crystal Caverns themed gifts to the Fishville gifts tab. Now players on a tight budget trying to theme their aquarium as a glittering cave have a few more items to work with. Assuming they can get their Fishville neighbors to send them the goods, that is.

The new gifts we spotted are: Cobalt Opal Shell, Urchin Shells, Rose Conch Shell, and buildable Dino Bones. Only the Rose Conch Shell is specifically listed as being a part of the Crystal Caverns set, but the other three gifts all seem to fit in nicely with the theme.

Farmville May 18 Mystery Box

Another week means another Farmville mystery box, stuffed full of exclusive, never-before-seen goodies. This week’s mystery box comes in a new color (orange and mustard), but has the usual price tag (16 FV$). So what’s inside? We have the full scoop:

- Big Horn Sheep
- Cactus Inn
- Adobe Shop
- Rock Hot Tub
- Oasis
- Woodchuck

One of the stronger mystery boxes in recent memory, in our opinion. Throwing in a couple of leftover Southwest items is a little disappointing, but the other four items are all very nice! We have pictures of all the new additions below.

Cheers to the official Farmville forum goers for these pics.

Farmville Releases First Tuscan Decorations

Just as the most recent Farmville podcast promised, the first batch of Tuscan decorations have been added to the Farmville marketplace. Like the previous French Chateau and Southwest item sets, these Italian decorations are going to be added over multiple Farmville updates, and are available in the Farmville Marketplace for 20 more days.

The new additions are: Fattoria, Tuscan Barn, Tuscan Tool Shed, Bee Catcher, Oak Tree, Tuscan Bench, and Tuscan Fence. Note that the Oak Tree and and Bee Catcher bird are standard decorations – not a harvestable tree or animal.

What do you think about this new Italian-themed expansion? What Tuscan items do you hope are still on the way? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Tiki Farm Introduces Upgradeable Fishing Dock

Tiki Farm developer Playdom released the game’s first building with purpose, earlier today: a fishing dock! It seems that more and more social farming games are transitioning from their buildings being just for show, to their buildings being used to make more money and provide more benefit for the farm.

Like the new livestock animals, this fishing dock allows players to turn one good into new, more valuable good. In this instance, players can turn in the grubs found on their neighbor’s islands into Opakapaka fish, after a five minute wait. Players that are a high enough level can upgrade their fishing dock, giving it a fancier look, and also shortening the wait time & increasing the profit.

The Fishing Dock is currently the only item in the Workshops section of the Tiki Farm shop, which seems to be a pretty strong hint that more buildings with similar functions are on the way.

Happy Pets Introduces Trapped Mystery Pet

Happy Pets developer Crowdstar introduced a new trapped pet earlier today, in a feature almost identical to the Box of the Unknown popping up in Happy Island. The trapped pet can be found in Room 1 of players’ homes. To release and adopt the trapped animal, players will need to enlist the help of seven friends, to open the seven locks. Friends can be summoned by creating a Facebook wall post.

So, what is inside this mystery pet box? Crowdstar states that it contains one of six brand new, exclusive pets, with some being much more rare than others. SGC has learned that five of the six pets are albino versions of existing animals, while the sixth (and apparently most rare) is something brand new: a mini dinosaur!

Besides this mini dino, the other five pets are:
- Albino Horse
- Albino Ferret
- Albino Parrot
- Albino Guinea Pig
- Albino Bunny

Happy Island Adds Archipelago Decorations

Just as we predicted, the first set of archipelago decorations have been added to Happy Island. Players can now begin to decorate and customize their entire string of islands in the same way each individual landmass can currently be customized.

The archipelago decorations are: Channel Marker, Lost Column, Rocky Outcropping, Lost Arch, and Rocky Column. These decorations aren’t cheap, however. All but one cost north of 100,000 coins!

To access the archipelago shop, players must be on their archipelago view, by clicking the island icon in the upper righthand corner. When in the archipelago view, the normal island shop icon will change into an anchor – the symbol for the new shop. It is also here that players can buy new islands and islets for their archipelago.

Happy Aquarium Releases Limited Edition Lucky Slots Idol

Happy Aquarium developer Crowdstar figured out a while back that they could make some major dough by releasing limited edition “idols” that give players a permanent in-game boost. The only problem is there are only so many permanent in-game bonuses players can be awarded.

The newest exclusive idol seems to back up our hypothesis that Crowdstar is running out of idol ideas. The new Lucky Slots Idol gives players the opportunity to test their luck every 8 hours with the pull of a slot machine. Every pull is a winner, but some moreso than others. The big payout is an impressive 1,000,000 coins!

The Lucky Slots Idol is for sale for 149 FB$ ($14.90), and is only available until Sunday, May 23rd.

Playdom Launches Treetopia

Social game developer Playdom launched a brand new game this week: Treetopia! The game is an interesting mixture of the familiar and the new, borrowing concepts from many other hit games (including Playdom’s other titles), and stirring them all up into a single pot.

The basic goal of Treetopia is to grow your village’s central tree (you can see it in the screenshots below) by leveling up, and increasing the number of villagers you control.

Players have three major resources to gather: Beads, Wood, and Stone. Beads can be collected from most buildings, and exist mainly as currency – to buy more buildings and decorations. Players collect beads from campfires, rug mills, chapels, and most other structures. Wood and Stone are produced at a quarry and a wood works over a period of several hours.

Players spend their wood and stone resources by sending their villagers on quests. It is these quests that award the player XP and allow them to level up, thereby gaining access to more buildings and more villagers. Later on, more specialized villagers can be recruited, including warriors, shielders, and healers, which will allow for the completion of more advanced quests.

It might sound a little complex, but in truth Treetopia is grasped after just a few minute of play: Beads buy things, Wood and Stone are used in quests, quests earn experience points and lead to level-ups.

Players have all the standard customization options for the their village, and can spruce it up with a variety of decorations, rotate buildings, etc. One nice touch is that the villagers themselves can be customized. The males and females can be given separate skin colors, hear styles, and outfits. We made our villagers purple.

Treetopia has a lot of promise. The game has high production values and looks and sounds great. It is a shame the quests are automatic – we think it would have been a great way to introduce players to minigames. But with decorating, resource gathering, and an XP system, most Facebook gamers should feel right at home with this idyllic village sim.
