FarmVille developer Zynga has released another edition of their weekly podcast. As usual, FarmVille community manager Lexilicious has managed to cram a tremendous amount of FarmVille news into a quick six minute package. Readers can listen for themselves below, or read the podcast transcript.
Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille podcast. My name is Lexilicious, and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases, and you guys will all be getting sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future.
Now, before we get into discussing all of our newest features, I would like to give a quick thank you to all of the players who participated in the FarmVille Dessert Contest. We challenged everyone to bring FarmVille to life with ovens, flour and just a sprinkle of creativity. Well Farmers, you rose to the challenge like true baking champions. The cooks in our Dessert Contest whipped up some of the most creative and edible works of art we’ve ever seen. Choosing the winners of this contest was no easy task, but after much deliberation, the FarmVille Team decided upon the most creative, delicious and well presented FarmVille desserts. If you would like to check out our winning entries, please visit the official Farmville forums and congratulations again to our winners who will be walking away with 1000 Farm Cash and 1,000,000 Coins. Remember Farmers, these contests are a great way to showcase your talent and earn some extra farm cash, so make sure to enter next time for your chance to win big.
So the past couple of weeks for FarmVille have been absolutely packed with new features. From great new Winter Holiday themed items to brand new features, FarmVille has been going all out to celebrate the holidays this year.
First up was the release of the Winter Workshop. This new constructable building is the first major step to our FarmVille holiday season and soon enough you’ll be able to harvest special Holiday Gifts from the Winter Workshop for special use later. But first, however, just worry about getting them built as much as you can.
You’ll get the base for the Winter Workshop for free the first time you play FarmVille, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Winter Workshop base on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later.
You’ll only be able to have one Winter Workshop at a time. If you sell yours and want another, you can find it in the Market for 5,000 coins. You’ll need to be level 5 in order to place and use the Winter Workshop.
Now, the basic Winter Workshop looks pretty but you’ll need to level it first before you can start using it to collect Holiday Gifts. To level your workshop, you will need to collect parts like our other constructible buildings. You can acquire these parts via the free gifts page, farm cash, special delivery boxes and neighbor requests.
Harvesting for Holiday Gifts will begin soon, so make sure to finish constructing those workshops soon.
Our other big feature this week was the release of quests. Now, this feature is currently only available to a randomly selected group of users, but I want to give everyone a quick explanation of how this release works so users who do have it understand the benefits, and players who don’t can be better prepared once it arrives.
Coupled together with the introduction of the Winter Workshop, the Winter Wonderland Quest is a mission to make your farm into a beautiful wonderland and earn some cool gifts along the way. To get started, click the quest icon located at the lower left-hand side of the game.
Clicking on this icon will bring up the quest window, which will display your current quest, your quest progress and objectives. Your first quest objectives are to Place a Winter Workshop on your farm and buy one Candy Arch from the Market.
You’ll see a green checkmark by the objectives you’ve already finished. Once you complete these objectives, you will be awarded a prize. The prizes will automatically be awarded to you and you’ll return to your farm. You also have the option to Share the special gift with your friends by making a post to your feed.
A new icon will show up if there is another quest to complete. Your next quest’s objectives are to change your landscape to the snow blanket, place 4 parts in your workshop and acquire holiday lights from your Neighbors. Once you complete this quest, you will receive a special reward. Now, the rest of the Winter Wonderland Quests are all similar in structure to the ones I’ve just explained. Now, I don’t want to give away all of the surprises, so get out there and start questing today. If you are in need of any additional information about this feature, or you have feedback that you would like to share with us, please make sure to visit the “Game Updates” section of the Official FarmVille forums.
Alright! So this week’s coming soon segment will actually give you guys a little bit more insight into a feature I know everyone has been waiting for. This year’s holiday tree will be making an appearance in FarmVille soon, but it works a little bit differently this year.
You will need to collect holiday gifts from your Neighbors and place them into your tree. As you add more gifts, the tree will grow and change in appearance. As you collect gifts, you will be able to redeem your gifts for special prizes along the way as you unlock them. Similar to how the Haunted House could be used to collect Candy, the Winter Workshop will become harvestable for holiday gifts once the tree is released.
Keeping with the holiday spirit, when you redeem a special prize, instead of sharing an extra one via your feed as per usual, we’re going to let you pick which friends you would like to send it to as a present. Players who participate in this feature may also see a special present from Zynga this year, so make sure to keep an eye out for this release in the near future.
And lastly, we have the new snowman feature coming to farmville in the coming weeks. Players will be able to have snowball fights with their friends by visiting their farms or joining in on other friends snowball fights. With all of that snow being thrown, you will eventually end up with a big pile of it. You can use this pile of snow to build a Snowman, that may even dance for you if you can find the right item for it.
Alright folks, that’s it from me this week. Again, my name is Lexilicious and I will be back on December 17th to bring you all of the latest news from around the Farm. Happy Farming everybody!
The latest Official FarmVille Podcast was released late yesterday. FarmVille community manager Lexilicious walks players through various FarmVille bug fixes, including the removal of any excess Nursery Barns.
The highlight of the podcast is undoubtedly the announcement that players will soon be able to customize their farmer in several new ways. Not much is known about the feature yet, besides that players will be able to purchase clothing items or even entire outfits for coins, and for FV$.
Players can listen to the podcast for themselves below, or read the transcript.
Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases and you guys will all get a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future.
Now before I get into discussing our exciting new releases, I want to quickly go over a change that will be affecting a group of our players. Unfortunately, due to numerous unforeseen technical complications, we have had to remove all excess Nursery Barns from our players. If this change pertains to you, we have placed all of the animals from your second Nursery Barn into your gift box. We have also credited any affected players with 100 Farm Cash to help replace any lost building materials or efforts. Unfortunately, if you were in possession of more than two Nursery Barns, we will not be able to restore any lost animals or building materials from your excess Nurseries, however you will still receive the compensation mentioned above for your second Nursery Barn only. When this glitch originally came to our attention a few months ago, the FarmVille team allowed players to be in possession of two Nurseries, which is why compensation is being granted to affected users. However, it was also stated that if players chose to build more than two Nursery Barns that they were doing so at their own risk, as the fix for this glitch may result in the loss of any Nurseries in excess of two.
Please know that we had every intention of allowing players to keep two nurseries on their farm as was originally stated, but as I mentioned earlier, technical issues have forced us to revise this decision and revert to this feature back to its intended design. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration this bug may have caused our players and we would like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Please know that this was not a decision that was made lightly but was ultimately done to preserve the health and stability of FarmVille. This removal will happen gradually and if you experience any issues, please make sure to contact our Customer Service department.
Alright! So as many of you know, we had lots of great new releases in the past two weeks, but one of the most notable updates was the release of crafting jobs for co-op farming.
With thursdays’s update we’ve added the ability to take on Crafting Co-Op Jobs as well as your Basic Jobs. The Crafting Jobs are all based on the crafting recipes available with their respective Crafting Buildings in FarmVille; each Job requires that a certain number of recipe ingredients need to be planted and harvested before a certain time period in order to get the reward.
The process you go through to start and finish Crafting Jobs is essentially the same as Basic Jobs. Crafting Jobs generally have a longer time limit to complete, and the availability of which Crafting Jobs you can take depends what recipes you have unlocked with the crafting building(s) you currently own. This feature is great for players who always seem to be short on bushels as Crafting Jobs can reward XP, coins, and bushels when completed.
Access to Crafting Jobs is through the same Co-Op window. Currently you default to “All Jobs”, which shows all available Crafting Jobs. You can also see there is a new Crafting Jobs tab, which will just show you what Crafting jobs will be available for you to start.
The rest of the process is almost entirely similar to regular co-op jobs—you can ask your neighbors to join your co-op in order to hit your job deadlines. Your neighbors do not need to have access to those crafting recipes in order to participate in a Crafting Job. The Crafting Job ends when you meet the goals within the given amount of time, or you run out of time (in which unfortunately, you do not get a reward). As with Normal Jobs the more you contribute to the Crafting Job, the better your reward. Please note that you can purchase additional time with Farm Cash via the green Purchase button on the bottom left of the Active Job window.
Nursery Barn expansion was also released on the 14th, which gives our players who love to collect baby animals a little bit more legroom and a higher chance of producing adult animals when collecting from their Nurseries. Now, I am not going to go too in depth into the Nursery Expansion as the mechanics should be very familiar to most of our players. For our more experienced players who may not have tried this new release yet, all you guys need to know is that you can gain a total of 20 additional storage spaces in your nurseries if you choose to participate. For any newer players who may be looking for a helping hand with the details of this release, please make sure to visit the game updates section of the FarmVille forums for more information.
And lastly, the past two weeks have been jam packed with great new items from our Limited Edition German theme. These items have been accompanied by a great new Mystery Game that features brand new feathered friends and the new Dog Wood Limited Edition crop. This flower can be mastered and will only be available until October 19th, so make sure to start working on the mastery for this one while you still can!
Alright! And on that note folks, lets go ahead and get into the coming soon segment of this week’s podcast!
So first up this week is something that I know many of our players will be really excited about, as it has been a community request since the release of FarmVille. Soon, players will be able to purchase clothing for their avatars! Any player who is looking to dress up and personalize their farmer will soon see some great outfits and costumes in the coming weeks.
We also have two new Halloween features coming for you in the near future, including a constructible Haunted House and a Halloween Candy Holiday basket that players will be able to fill with candy and redeem for special prizes. We may also have a few other Halloween surprises in store for you guys, so make sure to tune into the next few podcasts for more details!
Now, I can’t give too many details about our last sneak peek, but I can tell you that players will soon be able to visit a very special Neighbor to earn one new consumable and one new Decoration.
Alright, well that’s it from me this week farmers. I just want to let you all know that I will not be in the office for the next podcast on the 8th of October, so our next podcast will be hosted by Voltai, one of the other members of the FarmVille Community Team. I will see you guys in a few weeks and I would like to thank everyone for tuning in this week.
The Germany expansion rolled on in FarmVille today, with several more buildings, decorations, and animals making their debut. All of these items expire in ten days however, so if players see anything that catches their eye, they will need to buy it while they still can!
The new items are: Gelbvieh Cow, Lynx, Mountain Tavern, Moss Cabin, Forest Waterfall, Black Forest, Tree Arch, and Flower Bed.
Although these items belong to the Germany expansion, in our opinion they would fit right at home in a “fall” collection, considering their rich browns and yellows.
Zynga has once again updated FarmVille’s mystery game (which replaced the old Mystery Boxes). This week’s prizes all have a “feathered friend” theme.
The six birds players can win from the mystery game are: Bird of Paradise, Barn Owl, Guinea Fowl, Love Bird, Pied Peacock, and Roseate Spoonbill. Most of these exotic avian additions aren’t exactly what one thinks of when picturing farm birds, but we think that’s the point. All of these prize birds certainly do make an impact!
As expected, FarmVille developer Zynga has released another batch of German themed items this week. Players now have even more ways to give their farm some Bavarian charm.
The new items are: Dog Rose crop, Chamois goat, Breakfast House, Clock Tower, House Bridge, Cruise Boat, Barrel Tub, and Oak Tree. The Oak Tree is just for decoration, and can’t be harvested.
To plant Dog Rose, players will need to be level 24, and have already mastered Pink Roses. It is available until October 20th, and unlike most limited time crops, it is able to be mastered. Players will need to harvest a total of 3350 crops to complete mastery. Dog Rose can be planted for 105 coins, and harvested for 190 coins and 1 XP.
FarmVille developer Zynga is once again returning to Europe for the game’s latest item expansion. A collection of German themed decorations made their debut in the FarmVille marketplace this week, with more undoubtedly in the works.
The new items are: Reitpony, Roe Deer, German House, Tailor Shop, Flower Cafe, German Barn, German Tool Shed, Majestic Fountain, Beech Tree, Market Table Set, Porcelain Vase, Flower Knoll, Animal Statue, Giant Moss Rock, and Farm Fence. Some of these new items expire in 9 days, and some expire in 12 days.
All of the new animals and buildings can only be purchased with FV$. The other decorations are available for a mixture of FV$ and coins.
FarmVille developer Zynga released another limited item collection this week, hot on the heels of the now-expired gem collection. Players can now hustle to collect all the Toy Collection pieces, before they are also retired.
The collection items are: ABC Blocks, Train Whistle, Duck Toy, Jack, Marble, and Paddle Ball. Players have a random chance of obtaining any of these collection items when planting & harvesting crops. They can also be received as gifts from friends, or can be purchased with FV$.
For the collection to be considered complete, players must collect several of each item – anywhere from three to ten. A whopping 47 items are needed in total. The reward for completing the collection is a cute (but arguably anticlimactic) Sheep Toy.
Two permanent additions to FarmVille’s ever-growing list of crops made their debut this week. Players can now plant Square Melon and Gladiolus flowers. But both require more than just a high level.
Square Melon costs 410 coins to plant, grows to maturity in 1 day, and earns 590 coins and 2 XP when harvested. To plant it, players will need to be level 52 or higher, and must have mastered both Watermelon and Yellow Melon.
Gladiolus costs 200 coins to plant, grows to maturity in 6 hours, and earns 260 coins and 1 XP when harvested. It requires players be level 28 or higher, and also requires Daffodil mastery.
FarmVille developer Zynga has revealed that they aren’t yet finished with their Summer Fun expansion. Another batch of summer items were added tonight. All of tonight’s additions expire in 9 days. Last week’s Summer Fun decorations expire in just 2 more days.
Tonight’s new items are: Roadside Diner, Curiosity Shop, Mt. Waterfall, Hippo Fountain, Backyard Sprinkle, Roadside Statue, and Coffee Tower. As usual, the items are available for a mixture of coins and FV$.
Which of tonight’s new items is your favorite? Leave a comment and let us know!
