PetVille Fairy Meadows Now Available

The 2nd magic door in PetVille’s attic is now open! Players can now send their pets to the enchanted land of Fairy Meadows.

Like the Tahiki magic door, players will need to collect keys in several different colors to gain access to Fairyland: Purple, Green, Blue, Red, and Yellow. In true Zynga fashion, the number of keys needed has escalated. This time around, 15 keys are needed. Players can gift keys to one another for free, or purchase a key for five pet cash.

Once players have dealt with all the locks and gained access to Fairy Meadows, they will be able to purchase items in the new Fairlyand section of the outdoor store. As usual, a huge batch of detailed decorations are now for sale. New decorations include: acorn lantern, dew drop leaves and flowers, several winged fairy outfits in male and female styles, a pencil clothesline, several fully animated fantasy creatures, and plenty more.

In what (we believe) is a first for Petville, several of the oversized flowers and leaves that come in such sharp focus actually reside in the foreground of the scene, not the background. This means your pet walks behind them when moving through the scene. Neat!

Although only Zynga knows for certain, our bet is on more Fairy Meadows items being added over the coming weeks. See below for our complete picture gallery of the current additions.

Petville Magic Door #2 Opening Soon!

PetVille developer Zynga has been dropping hints about the next magic door that will soon be opening in players’ pet attics! The first door took players to the Tahiki Island paradise and introduced one of the most extensive sets of PetVille items yet. So this next destination has a lot to live up to!

So, what do we know about this upcoming expansion? Not much. Just that it is coming “very soon” and that it has been described as an “enchanted land.” Zynga has supplied two teaser images, pictured below. From these pictures, it seems players might be headed to some sort of tree-top village. It also seems likely that pets will be shrunken down to a significantly smaller size to fit in this new magic door, since we can see thimbles and a spool of thread used as a table and chairs in one of the images.

Happy Pets Adds Pandora Pets

Happy Pets developer Crowdstar introduced a set of three “pandora pets” today, inspired by the blue cat aliens in Avatar. These animals come with a special twist, however – they can’t actually be purchased from the Happy Pets shop.

The only way to earn them is via consecutive Happy Pets logins. If a player checks in every day for 14 days they are awarded the spotted blue Pandora Pig. Log in 21 days straight, and a player earns the Pandora Ferret. If a player can manage to log in for an impressive 28 days straight, they will be awarded the Pandora Dog.

Since there’s no other way to obtain these animals, if you visit a neighbor next month and they have this dog, then you will know they are a truly dedicated Happy Pets player.

PetVille Wedding Balcony Released

PetVille has released a small addition to the game’s wedding expansion – a balcony! The new decoration is (oddly) being sold in the furniture store and not the outdoor store, like all the other wedding props.

Players that want this romantic view for their pet’s wedding will need to act fast – the balcony is available for this week only.

PetVille Introduces Genie Gems Minigame

PetVille developer Zynga introduced a new game of chance, today: Genie Gems! Players that participate will have the chance to win money, clean bombs, flowers, or discover one of the genie’s 12 lost gems. If all the gems are recovered, a special bonus is earned.

Each time a player wants to try their luck a Genie Lamp must be spent. PetVille players begin with three. More can be purchased with Pet Cash, or friends can send genie lamps to one another for free.

The minigame itself is pretty simple. There are nine baskets, either containing a prize, the dreaded game over snake, or nothing. If a player uncovers the snake, it’s game over. Any prizes uncovered first are then kept.

The big question on everyone’s mind is the secret reward for finding all the genie gems. The scoop is… there isn’t just a single reward. Players are given the chance to choose from three secret (and seemingly random) genie rewards. Clean Bomb 10-packs and two Pet Cash are confirmed prizes.

Happy Pets Adds New Mystery Gifts

Happy Pets developer Crowdstar added four new mystery gifts to the Happy Pets gift tab, this week. The gifts come in four categories, so players won’t know the specific item they are sending or receiving, but they at least know what type of item is inside.

The four categories are: Outdoor Decor, Furniture, Wall/Floor, and Accessories.

This mystery gift split is very similar to a change Crowdstar made to sister game Happy Island last week. That game also received four new mystery gifts with more specific categories.

Happy Pets Adds Buildable Dino Den

Happy Pets developer Crowdstar has given pet owners a new construction project, similar to the Horse Stable released last month. But unlike horses, this time players are constructing a home for a considerably more exotic animal: dinosaurs!

Players begin construction of their Dino Den by purchasing the frame for 800 coins. After that, a whopping 80 construction materials must be acquired. 10 each of: Torches, Cement, Hammers, Drills, Rocks, Rivets, I-Beams, and Shovels. Players can send these materials to one another via the Happy Pets gift tab, or request a specific material by making a Facebook wall post. Players can also opt to purchase the Dino Den outright for 320 FB$ ($32.00).

Once construction is finished, players are rewarded with a free Green Triceratops dinosaur. 15 more dinosaurs are available in the Happy Pets store, for a mixture of coins and FB$. The cheapest coin dinosaur is still quite expensive at 37,795 coins, however. Current dinosaur varieties are T-Rex and Triceratops, available in colors such as blue, white, black, teal, red, and more.

Petville Adds Wedding Props

PetVille developer Zynga released a large collection of wedding items this week, giving pet owners everything they need to hold a luxurious outdoor wedding ceremony.

New decorations include: cherry blossom trees, animated wedding guests, red rose centerpieces, wedding tables and chairs, doves, isle runners, rose petals, wedding cake, champaign buckets, and plenty more.

Bridesmaid dresses, wedding dresses, and tuxedos were also added. If there was every any doubt about who the most important person at a wedding is, notice how all the male tuxedos are for sale for coins, while many of the wedding dress components are only for sale for Pet Cash. Zynga certainly knows their audience!

Happy Pets Adds Special Pot of Gold

Happy Pets developer Crowdstar has become quite fond of releasing premium, limited edition items that give players a permanent, never-expiring boost. The only problem with this formula is that since the bonuses stick around forever, it seems like it is getting harder and harder for Crowdstar to come up with new bonus-providing objects to sell.

Somehow, the company keeps finding a way, as evidenced by today’s new Pot of Gold item. The Pot of Gold is for sale for 90 FB$, but loyal players that log in each day can click on it to receive a 1 FB$ bonus for the first 14 days. This effectively reduces the price to 76 FB$.

After this 14 day period, the Pot of Gold will award players with an exclusive pet: a new miniature Microcat.

Finally, after the free Facebook credits and free pet, the Pot of Gold will award 300 coins a day, forever.

Happy Pets Releases Gulf Oil Spill Charity Pet

Happy Pets developer Crowdstar has kicked off a new “Crowdstar Cares” charity initiative, with an exclusive purple Peewee Sea Duck. As its name implies, this duck is miniature sized.

The duck is available for 30 days, and is being sold for 88 FB$ ($8.80). Crowdstar has promised that 100% of the “net proceeds” will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation, which is working to help save animals affected by the gulf oil spill.

We want to emphasize that ALL profit from this animal is being donated to charity. In many of Crowdstar competitor Zynga’s much-publicized charity efforts, only 50% of the proceeds were given to charity. Given the very low cost of developing and selling their virtual goods, this 50% split never sat well with us. In these instances, when Zynga announced it had raised millions for charity, what is was unsaid is that these sales earned millions in profit for the company as well.

In any case, we don’t want to spend too much time debating about who is doing the most good. The bottom line? Buy this duck, and you not only get an exclusive adorable pet, but you’ll be doing a small part to help out real animals, too.
