Cafe World Releases 80s Decor

Cafe World developer Zynga released a collection of “Totally Awesome” 1980s decorations, this week. Has it been long enough for garish neon colors and gigantic boom boxes to be cool again? Zynga is betting so.

New decorations include: Pink Neon Windows, Keytar wall hanging, Squiggles Floor tile, Giant Stereo Speaker, Aerobic Instructor, Neon Flamingos, and plenty more. Our inner nerd appreciates the collection of pixelated food, as well. Players can pick up a pixel pear, strawberry, burger, cherry, and more.

Which of these tubular additions is your favorite? Leave a comment and let us know.

PetVille Enchanted Kingdom Coming Soon

PetVille developer Zynga has revealed where the next attic Magic Door will be taking players: The Enchanted Kingdom!

The preview image shows a Fairytale shoe house, so the expansion might be similar to the Fairyland magic door. The PetVille fan page states that players can expect “A world of kings and queens, princes and princesses. A world of castles, dragons and other fantastic things.” Exciting!

FarmVille Releases Storage Cellar!

FarmVille developer Zynga has finally flipped the switch on the game’s long-promised storage cellar feature! With a maximum storage capacity of 500 items and a very small land footprint, the cellar should be the ultimate FarmVille storage solution.

Every player has been gifted a free cellar to kick things off, and the cellar is also for sale in the FarmVille marketplace for 10,000 coins. Initially, the cellar has no storage space – players must increase it by collection shovels. Each shovel collected boosts the cellar’s storage space by 2, meaning a total of 250 will be needed to achieve the maximum capacity of 500 items.

Shovels can be purchased in packs of 10 for 5 FV$, or players can gift them to one another in packs of 2 for free.

As an added bonus, as players collect shovels from their FarmVille neighbors, they are not just increasing their storage space. Exclusive rewards are also up for grabs:

10 shovels – Mole
20 shovels – Crystal Rock
30 shovels – Miner Sheep
60 shovels – Cave Gnome
100 shovels – Antique Tracter

What do you think about this new storage cellar feature? Leave a comment and let us know!

FarmVille Releases Summer Fun Items

FarmVille developer Zynga has apparently decided that summer celebrations are better late than never, and has added a collection of Summer Fun decorations to the FarmVille marketplace.

The new decorations are: Backyard Fort, Ice Cream Shop, Flamingo, Bouncing Castle, Dinosaur Slide, Fireflies, Octopus Pool, and Summer Campsite. These decorations all expire in 7 days.

It’s worth pointing out that the Flamingo is a proper, harvestable animal. Not the plastic variety that most people are probably expecting to find on a farm!

Mafia Wars Armored Truck Blowing Up TODAY

Two weeks ago Mafia Wars developer Zynga announced that they were buying an armored truck, driving it out to the Nevada desert and… blowing it sky high! Nothing like a good old fashioned marketing stunt to get some publicity.

Today, Zynga upped the stakes even more. It has been revealed that legendary Hip-Hop artist Snoop Dogg will be the person pushing the plunger down to trigger the explosion. An official time was also set – the event is going down today at 6PM PST / 9PM EST. Players can watch live at MafiaWarsLV.com.

FrontierVille Releases Mystery Animal Box

FrontierVille developer Zynga knows better than most that if there is one thing social game players love, it is a good mystery. Zynga practically invented the concept of mystery boxes and mystery gifts within FarmVille, nearly a year ago. The concept has now made its way into Zynga’s latest (and greatest?) game, FrontierVille.

Players can now purchase an Animal Mystery Crate from the FrontierVille shop for 50 Horseshoes. The box is guaranteed to contain one of three exclusive animals: An owl, a hedgehog, or a rabbit. The rabbit comes in one of three random colors – pink, brown, or white. Players that collect all three animals will receive a special bear statue (complete with crazy eyes) for no additional charge.

Treasure Isle Releases Volcano Isles Maps

Treasure Isle developer Zynga released a new set of maps this week: Volcano Isles. The seven map set uses the same tiles and design as the Fire God Mountain volcano, but they play like traditional Treasure Isle stages, with set designs instead of randomized layouts.

The new maps are: Burning Phoenix, Jeweled Palace, Fairy Castle, Wrong Turn!, Old Gem Mine, Phoenix Roost, and Imp Fort. Three of the seven maps must be purchased with Island cash, and the remaining four are free.

Instead of containing gem gates, players must instead pay Phoenix Feathers to progress past locked gates. These feathers can be collected inside Fire God Mountain, similar to the Monkey Wrenches that can be collected inside Monkey Palace.

Zynga Evaluating Mafia Wars Combat

Mafia Wars developer Zynga is asking players to take a survey, to better understand what they like and dislike about the game’s current player vs. player combat system. Unlike most requests for player feedback, this survey is fairly lengthy – nearly 25 questions. Perhaps Zynga is contemplating a major Mafia Wars PvP revamp?

Most of the questions revolve around the number and frequency of PvP attacks. Zynga is specifically asking players how many times they think one player should be able to attack another, over specific periods of time.

Players can participate in the survey by clicking this link.

FrontierVille Adds New Decorations

FrontierVille developer Zynga updated the game’s General Store today, releasing a wide variety of new homestead decorations. All the new items can be found under the Special tab, or on the first page of the Decorations tab.

The new items are: Sale Sign, Sheriff Statue, Lemonade Stand, Crates, Fruit Stand, Can Pyramid, Delivery Wagon, Sacks, and Trash Pile. Although some of these items are permanent additions to the FrontierVille store, others, including the stands and the wooden sheriff, are limited editions. These limited items are only available for two more days.

Treasure Isle Introduces Storage Balloons

Treasure Isle developer Zynga introduced a whimsical collection of hot air balloons over the weekend. Besides adding a bit of style and panache to a player’s home island, these balloons also double as storage, providing players with +10 additional backpack space.

The new balloon styles are: Starry, Rainbow, Pink & Blue, Kittens, Checker, Strawberry, Steampunk, & Anvil. They are all limited editions and will only be available for four more days, and are all for sale for 40 Island Cash.
